This Straggler is a bomb-proof touring bike, custom built with high-quality components by touring-specialist Pilgrim Cycles at Box Hill in Surrey. But it can also be many other things.. Adjust the rear dropout, remove the racks, change the bars, swap the saddle, change the groupset and it's a steel roadie. Put on straight bars, remove the front rack, and it's a solid commuter. Change the tyres - it'll take upto a 42mm 700C - to create a heavy-duty gravel bike. Pair it all back to a single speed simple steel frame utilitarian townie.

Do some cyclocross with the extra-resistance training a steel frame offers. Surly suggest this is a " mountain biker's road bike ". If you only have room for one bike in your life, the Straggler can (and should) be your one and only.

Surly Straggler frame (56)(black). Exal DC19 rims and black spokes -36 spokes front and rear. XT rear axle and SP-PD8 front hub (Black) with 6V/3W output powering B&M IQ2 front light, Topline Brakeplus rear light, and USB connection on handlebars. XT M8000 hydraulic brakes and RT76 rotors. Schwalbe Marathon Greenguard tyres 700 x 35.

XTR bottom bracket and shifters. 11-36 XT M771 cassette (10-speed). XT T8000 front and rear deraillieurs. Brooks B17 saddle - black (with small pot of leather conditioner included).

Shimano T8000 XT MTB SPD Trekking Pedals. Black SKS 45mm Bluemel mudguards with rear reflector. Tubus logo +Tara front and rear racks. 200km ridden over 14 rides since new. A few minor scuffs from storage (see pictures), and a squiggly'Straggler' logo on the top tube which makes this one completely unique!
