Finally decided to part with my wonderful Touristique, which I renovated in 2018 and which carried me all round Shropshire in Lockdown. It is an amalgam of amazing cycling DNA and traditions, has some unique features. Altogether a brilliant ride, and completely restored my faith in the classic randonneur touring bike tradition.

Couple of things to note. The TA cranks are 185mm items, ie 10mm longer than standard 175. Suit me well and make life a little easier on my knees. The paintwork on the frame is battered (to put it mildly), but the frame has no dents, cracks or any other flaws I can spot. I've used a 26mm seatpost with a USE alloy shim to bring it up to the standard 27.2 seat tube size. The Brooks saddle is brand new - ready to wear in. I'd prefer to keep the Ritchey pedals.

I saved up for them in the early 90s! The wheels are pretty special. The hubs are 1970s Nuovo Records, the rims are from the early 90s, but were as new when I built the wheels in 2019.

Much better than anything you'd get now. Frame and forks are Reynolds 531ST tubing, brazed and lugged. Cast drop-outs, rear with adjusters, down-tube lever bosses, carrier and mudguard eyes, two sets water bottle bosses, cable stops etc. Stronglight roller-bearing headset, BF 50mm alloy stem and 40cm SR handlebars.

Wheels are hand-built, Mavic MA40 rims on Campagnolo Nuovo Record small flange QR hubs. 36 double-butted stainless spokes, three-cross front and rear. Shimano Claris rear derailleur, front is a Suntour SVX. Shimano XT cantilevers and 600EX Q/R levers, Scott-Mathauser brake blocks.

TA Cyclotourist chainset (50/44/26), Shimano screw-on 7 speed freewheel, 13-28 sprockets. Panaracer GravelKing 32mm tyres, Schwalbe SV21A lightweight tubes.

You can collect the bike in Shrewsbury, or in Central London with some notice. I can deliver it to you in the Midlands, South West or Wales with a bit of notice.

Reasonable charge, depending on mileage. I'll try and work something out. Packing bikes is a pain and I always worry about travel damage. Thanks for looking and sorry, no offers. This item is in the category "Sporting Goods\Cycling\Bikes".
